We are delighted to invite you to the first Perth event for the AusIMM New Professionals Network in 2026 — an evening designed to connect, inspire, and bring together emerging professionals across the resources sector.

About this event

We are pleased to welcome our keynote speaker, Luke Creagh, Managing Director / CEO at Ora Banda Mining.

Luke most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Northern Star Resources Limited. Prior to becoming COO in 2018, he held various senior positions within Northern Star, including GM Business Development, GM Strategy & Growth, and Operations Manager. Before joining Northern Star, Luke was Operations Manager at Barminco Limited.

Luke will share reflections on his career across the resources sector, including his experience in both large-scale operations and his current role leading Ora Banda Mining.

Following the keynote, a panel of Ora Banda leaders will join the discussion to share insights into working within a small to mid-tier mining organisation, including the opportunities, challenges and expectations for professionals in this environment.

The session will close with a discussion on what is changing across the industry, and what early-career professionals should focus on over the next five to ten years - capabilities, behaviours and mindset that will matter most as the industry responds to shifting market conditions and global uncertainty.

This event is an opportunity for new graduates, early-career professionals, and those new to Perth to connect with fellow New Professionals. Join us for an evening of conversation, networking, and learning over canapés and beverages.

This event forms part of the AusIMM New Professionals Network, a community supporting professionals in the first five years of their careers through events, networking and professional development opportunities.

Luke Creagh

Chief Executive, Managing Director / Ora Banda Mining

Prior to becoming the Chief Executive of Ora Banda Mining in July 2022, Luke most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Northern Star Resources Limited. Prior to becoming COO in 2018, he held various senior positions within Northern Star, including GM Business Development, GM Strategy & Growth, and Operations Manager. Before joining Northern Star, Luke was Operations Manager at Barminco Limited.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the University of Queensland and a Western Australian first class mine manager’s certificate. Over his 20-year career in the resources sector, Luke has played a key role in contracting and mining projects throughout Australia and overseas.
