Ana O'Farrill

Head of Business Development, Minerals Americas, BHP

Ana has over twenty years of experience in the fields of finance, strategy and mining. Ana started her career in Corporate & Investment Banking in Brazil, having worked for large groups, such as Bradesco, Citibank and Santander. 

In 2011, she joined Rio Tinto, and held various roles across Australia, Europe, Africa and Canada, mainly focused on commercial, strategy and M&A, with projects executed globally. 

From 2020 to 2022, Ana led the Brazil office, as Country Head, and served on the Board of joint ventures and associations. In 2022-2023, she was based in London, as Chief of Staff to Dominic Barton, the Rio Tinto Chairman.

In August 2023 Ana joined BHP as Head of Business Development based in Chile, in a senior leadership role focused on originating and executing growth opportunities in future facing commodities and providing commercial and strategic advisory support to the President Americas and BHP Assets in the Americas region.

Ana holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from PUC-SP and Executive Master’s degrees in Strategy and Management of International Business from ESSEC–Paris and in Environment and Sustainability from FGV-SP.

Ana will be speaking at the Critical Minerals Forum, part of Australian Mining Week London.
