Join the Kalgoorlie Branch for their June tech talk: The Quiet Shift: What Australia's New Sustainability Reporting Era Means for the Mining Supply Chain.

About this event

Sustainability reporting is now law in Australia. From 1 January 2025, ASX-listed mining companies are required to report on climate and ESG performance under the new regime, with medium and smaller large entities phasing in through 2026 and 2027.

This tech talk, "The Quiet Shift" gives the audience a clear, non-jargon view of what is changing, who is captured, what ESG-informed procurement looks like in practice, and how SMEs and contractors can move from "we do some sustainability things" to a verifiable position they can take into a tender.

The session draws on the globally recognised Future-Fit Business Benchmark and the UN SDGs, walks through 15 ESG focus areas miners and their suppliers are being assessed against, and uses real evidence, including the speaker, Joanne Brooks's own validated ESG score - to ground the conversation in something more useful than slogans.

Attendees of this talk, who are working in or with consultancies, contractors, technology providers and service businesses will understand what's being asked, what "good" looks like, and how to respond credibly without overspending or greenwashing. For attendees on the buyer side, the same content explains what they should reasonably expect from suppliers and why.

Joanne Brooks is currently one of only two accredited Brownee ESG Advisors in Australia. Through her business Navig8 Biz, Joanne supports organisations across the mining supply chain with ESG education, evidence review, gap analysis, document creation and submission to verification. She is also a verified Brownee user herself. Navig8 Biz holds a current validated ESG score, which Joanne uses transparently in client work and will reference live during this talk.

Please note: Our speaker will be livestreaming into the room. This is an in-person event only.

With nearly 30 years across education, training, RTO compliance and business consulting, and a track record that includes scaling one of her own companies through competitor collaboration, Joanne brings both technical ESG framing and the operational realism of a small business owner who has done the work.
