Australian Synchrotron Site Visit
The Melbourne Branch invites AusIMM members to attend a site visit to the Australian Synchrotron.
About this event
This is an outstanding opportunity to see and learn about the Australian Synchrotron – a truly massive scientific instrument, available to the minerals and mining sectors for scientific research and development.
The Australian Synchrotron is one of only two in the Southern Hemisphere, and the only one in Australia. It has a suite of X-ray and infrared beamlines, and additional beamline infrastructure is now being built under project BRIGHT. The Synchrotron is used for a wide range of scientific and industrial studies, including exquisitely detailed geological materials analysis, spectroscopy, crystallography, and chemical analysis. The tour will take in the major components of the Synchrotron, focusing on its minerals-related applications. The tour will be led by Dr Emily Finch, Microscopy Group Manager, and Dr Helen Brand, Senior Beamline Scientist.

To support site security requirements, additional checks may be required for non‑Australian citizens. Please register by 14 July if this applies to you, so sufficient time can be allowed for processing.
Numbers are limited and registration is essential. Please note that this is an AusIMM member - only event.
