Join the Melbourne Branch for their September tech talk: Well-endowed but well in doubt: Recent advances and outstanding questions in high-grade gold formation.

About this event

Ultra-high-grade gold ores are among the most economically significant, yet geologically elusive features of hydrothermal ore systems.

Although the processes that govern gold sourcing, transport, and deposition are quite well established, these models struggle to explain the extreme local enrichments found in coarse native gold-bearing zones.

In this presentation, Speaker Chris R Voisey  will discuss concepts and recent advances in ore genesis to develop a refreshed view of how ultra-high-grade gold forms.

Chris R. Voisey

ARC DECRA Fellow & Teaching Associate School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment Monash University
Chris is a research fellow at Monash University who focuses on processes that govern ore deposit formation, with a focus on gold mineralization. His research integrates electrochemistry, nanoparticle science, and material science with traditional geology to help develop a holistic understanding of mineral systems. Voisey also enjoys contributing to science communication and education through teaching, mentorship, and frequent public lectures.
