About this event

The theme for this year's New Zealand Branch Annual Conference is "Enabling a Sustainable Future". The conference will be held at the Rydges Latimer Christchurch and will run from 20 - 22 August 2023.

This year’s conference will focus on how mining and minerals can enable a sustainable future. Technology, geology, mine planning, sustainability practices, regulatory issues, health and safety, and Iwi perspectives will be of interest to researchers, explorers, operators, and new professionals working in the minerals sector. University students undertaking research in earth sciences, environmental, engineering, and societal aspects of minerals are encouraged to attend. Travel and attendance scholarships will be available for students.

The conference subject areas will include exploration and geology, new and emerging technologies, mine planning, minerals and mineral processing, environmental, social, governance (ESG), health and safety, regulatory perspectives, policy, Iwi, rehabilitation, sustainability, and life-cycle management.
