Site Tour: Mount Pleasant Operation
Join AusIMM Hunter Student Chapter and Thiess for an exclusive site tour of the Mount Pleasant Operation, providing students with a practical insight into the mining industry and the range of careers and disciplines involved.
About this event
The tour will include presentations from Technical Services, covering areas such as geology, engineering and surveying, as well as the Environmental team. Students will also visit key areas of the operation, including the open cut pit and lookout, maintenance workshop and Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP).
This is a valuable opportunity for students from engineering, environmental, business, law and science backgrounds to connect their university studies with real world mining operations and gain a broader understanding of the resources industry.
The tour will be supported by experienced Thiess staff and technical professionals who can provide insight into their day-to-day roles, industry practices and career pathways. Students will meet at the Chancellery at 8:00 am for bus departure, arriving onsite at approximately 10:00 am. The site visit will conclude around 1:00 to 1:30 pm and aim to arrive back to the Chancellery no later than 3:30pm.
The cost is $10 per person, including the bus. Lunch may be provided on the site tour. Please bring your own bottled water and snacks.
