Join the South West WA Branch for their In person and livestream tech talk: Governing the ground - Essential geotechnical knowledge for underground mine leaders

About this event

The key areas of focus for underground geotechnical engineers include optimising economic extraction of the orebody and managing ground-related risks for personnel safety. These objectives often pull in different directions, making the role both challenging and critical.

The role involves an understanding of the mechanical behaviour of the rock mass and the response of a rock mass to the changing forces created by the mining environment.

This technical session covers an overview of the fundamental concepts of underground mining geotechnical engineering in the context of increasing understanding to reduce geotechnical risk.

An overview of ground support is covered because this is a key control in any underground mine to keep personnel safe.

The key areas of focus for the geotechnical group are also outlined to ensure that attention remains directed towards the effort supporting the critical controls required to manage this principal hazard.

Program:
5:15pm - Registration, networking, catering
6.00pm - Presentation begins
7.15pm - In-person networking continues
8.00pm - Close
