St Barbara's Memorial & Networking Event

Join the South West WA Branch for the St Barbara's Memorial & Networking Event.

About this event

Memorial for Fallen Miners in South West Western Australia (2:30 - 3pm)

Saint Barbara, the Patron Saint of Miners, has long been recognised as a protector of miners and those working in hazardous environments.

Families, miners and community members are invited to lay wreaths in remembrance of those who have lost their lives in workplace accidents, and to acknowledge the communities that support them.

The South West Branch encourages members to attend the Memorial and reflect on the importance of health and safety across our industry. A wreath will be laid on behalf of AusIMM members.

Pre-Event (10am - 2pm):
Prior to the Memorial, visitors can explore the Greenbushes Discovery Centre Museum, highlighting the region’s prospecting and mining history since 1888. The Discovery Centre features an underground decline display, along with exhibits celebrating the timber, agricultural and social history of the region.

Post-Event (after 3pm):
Members, friends and the wider community are invited to join an informal gathering at the Shamrock Hotel following the Memorial, providing an opportunity to connect and reflect on the region’s resources community.
