In-Person and Livestream July Tech Talk: Decarbonising Mining: An Update on Mine Haulage Technologies
Join the Southern Queensland Branch in - person or Livestream for their July Tech Talk: Decarbonising Mining: An Update on Mine Haulage Technologies.
About this event
Following his 2021 presentation on decarbonising the mining haul cycle, Ben Hall of Rotherwood Hall will give an update on the progress the industry has made in this field, and the challenges and issues facing the industry in adopting decarbonised haulage solutions.
Decarbonisation efforts in mining operations have advanced significantly across a wide range of fixed plant equipment. However, mobile equipment continues to present challenges for alternative energy systems to deliver the efficiency, economics and flexibility of traditional diesel power.
While many of the technologies have now matured to the stage of prototype application, significant barriers remain. The changes required to mining systems, and challenges with long term economics remain key stumbling blocks for further adoption.
In this Technical Talk Ben will expand on the current state of the technology adoption, and the challenges in mine planning, equipment utilisation, supply chain, and economics that still need to be addressed in the path toward scalable and practical decarbonised mine haulage.
