Jacques Eksteen

Professor, Curtin University

Jacques is the Chief Operating Officer and Research Director of the Future Battery Industries CRC Ltd (FBICRCI).  He is also a Professor at the WA School of Mines, Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering at Curtin University and hold the position of Chair: Extractive Metallurgy.

Jacques was the Director of the Curtin University Gold Technology Group (GTG) until June 2019 and managed the AMIRA P420 series of projects in gold processing since taking over the project leadership in 2012. He led research and innovation in the process engineering, minerals engineering, recycling, and extractive metallurgy of non-ferrous metals. Our research team focuses on value chain optimization and novel approaches to sustainable processing of metalliferous ores, concentrates and waste materials. Jacques is a listed inventor on 7 patent families relating to the extractive metallurgical processes and have published extensively in these areas. In addition, he has led several other industry-, state (MRIWA), and federally (ARC) funded projects. His research team has been involved in several innovations that are currently being commercialized through multiple technology supplier companies.
