Conference Advisory Committee Chair Welcome Message
Welcome message from Iron Ore Committee Chair Keith Vining
AusIMM and CSIRO are pleased to announce Iron Ore 2026 will be held in Perth from 23 to 25 June 2026 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia. The Iron Ore Conference has been convening industry, academia and technology providers since 2002 and has become the leading international forum for professionals involved in the geology, exploration, mining, and processing of ore to iron and steel.
In 2026, the Iron Ore Conference will be run in parallel with the Open Pit Conference. Combining the conferences allows delegates to select technical content most aligned with their professional interests. The conferences will attract delegates from across the globe and be combined with an exhibition, keynote presentations from thought leaders, networking opportunities, post-conference workshops and ta our of selected Pilbara iron ore mining operations.
As our industry enters an era of significant transformation, demanding operational change, it is more important than ever to network with other professionals to share insights and shape the industry, building resilient supply chains.
On behalf of AusIMM and CSIRO, we look forward to welcoming you to another successful conference.

Welcome message from Open Pit Operators Chair Daniel Goldstein
The AusIMM is pleased to announce that the Open Pit Operators Conference will be held in Perth from 23 to 25 June 2026 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia. Since its inception, the Open Pit Operators Conference has established itself as the premier international forum for open pit mining professionals, bringing together industry leaders, operators, researchers, and technology providers.
In 2026, the Open Pit Operators Conference will run in parallel with the Iron Ore Conference, allowing delegates to engage with a wide range of technical content across both events. Those who attend will benefit from keynote presentations by global thought leaders, technical sessions, an extensive exhibition, networking opportunities, post-conference workshops, and tours of selected Pilbara mining operations.
As our industry evolves, digital tools and technologies are becoming increasingly embedded in what has historically been an analogue domain. From advanced mine planning and automation to real-time data and decision-making, open pit operators are harnessing innovation to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This transformation highlights the importance of collaboration across our industry to share insights, learn from each other, and set the standard for the future of open-pit mining.
On behalf of the AusIMM, I look forward to welcoming you to Perth in 2026 for what promises to be an engaging and inspiring conference.
Daniel Goldstein
Chair, Open Pit Operators Conference and Principal Geotechnical Engineer, Rio Tinto
