Ashleigh Collette

SAusIMM

University of Queensland

Ashleigh is currently studying a Bachelor of Mining and Geotechnical Engineering (Honours) and a Bachelor of Geological Sciences at the University of Queensland.

Ashleigh has been an active member within the mining and metallurgy community at UQ. She has held numerous executive positions within the Mining and Metallurgy Association (MAMA) and also as a representative on the AusIMM Southern Queensland Student Chapter Committee. She has been heavily involved in organising Mining Games at both local and national levels and has also had the opportunity to represent UQ in International Mining Games tours to Cornwall, UK and Kentucky, USA.

Ashleigh has been fortunate enough to undertake multiple vacation placements throughout her time at university in both open cut and underground coal and also open cut iron ore. She spent her most recent summer at BHP’s Goonyella Riverside Mine in Moranbah, CQ where she held a position in their Geotechnical Services team. She now works as an Undergraduate Engineer in BHP’s Brisbane based Geotech division.

Despite the challenges associated with the current climate Ashleigh is grateful for the opportunity to continue to bring New Leaders to students, graduates and young professionals again this year.
