My name is Cyril Maniwa, I’m from Zimbabwe and I’m currently in my third year studying towards a Bachelor of Resources and Mining Engineering (Honours) at Monash University. As an international student, I am most keen on building networks with like-minded people, as I attempt to make the most of my journey here in Australia.

I am an active member within the Monash University Mining community. I am currently Vice President (Mining) of Resources Engineering Student Society and also sit on the AusIMM Melbourne Student Chapter Committee.

My interest is in underground hard rock mining and I have had the privilege of undertaking vacation work with Newcrest Mining in the past at Cadia, NSW. I’m looking forward to commencing a role at Telfer, WA this coming summer!

Outside of Mining, I work for Monash University Events and Campus Experience Team and also volunteer as an International Student Ambassador. I have also held the role of Resident Advisor on campus in the past, with a portfolio in Diversity and Inclusion.
