AusIMM’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct Regulations aim to ensure AusIMM members uphold and enhance their profession in the global mining community. We promote the highest professional and ethical standards of our members across all areas of professional practice with a strong focus on ethics and application of professional codes.

The AusIMM member community is supported through our observation of various AusIMM By-laws, regulations, and the code of ethics. Our members comply with the JORC and VALMIN Codes along with other policies of AusIMM.
Founded in 1893 by a group of individual miners, AusIMM was officially incorporated by Royal Charter received from the Duke of Edinburgh and granted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1955. A Royal Charter recognises global prominence and is a privilege few organisations can claim offering credibility to all members. The AusIMM Charter and By-laws establish AusIMM as a not-for-profit professional institute.
