Pre-conference tours announced!

On behalf of AusIMM and the organising committee, we are thrilled to announce new professional development opportunities designed specifically for our Life of Mine delegates are now open for registration, with special member rates available.

Registered delegates are invited to expand their conference experience and get a sense of scale of the inner operations of a mine by attending one of two all-inclusive pre-conference tours, held on Tuesday 1 August 2023.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Our pre-conference tours have been selectively curated to be of interest to delegates, including international and national professionals.  

Site tour to Meandu Mine

The Meandu Mine is an operational open cut coal mine 25 kilometres south-east of Kingaroy in Queensland's South Burnett region. It represents the largest progressively certified area of Native Ecosystem rehabilitation in the state.

Site tour to Sibelco Mineral Sands

Sibelco Mine Operations, located on idyllic Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) finds, extracts, and processes mineral sands, and exports it around the world. Sand mining has been present on Stradbroke Island since the 1950s.
