Dave has extensive experience in the energy and resources and infrastructure sectors, spanning senior specialist technical roles and strategic advisory leadership / executive positions. This included over a decade with Newcrest Mining (NSW), Rio Tinto (Vic and WA) and Dominion Mining (NT). His almost 35 years of experience in total, now includes more than 24 years with GHD in various senior consulting / strategic leadership positions in the energy and resources market primarily.

Dave currently leads GHD's mining sector for the Americas, across Chile, USA and Canada (strategy development / execution responsibility, business growth and diversification of integrated services). 

Technically, he has focussed on large-scale open pits and associated infrastructure investigation, design, operations, mine closure and asset transition planning, critical minerals strategies / developments, risk management and expert witness roles. He has been directly involved in and sponsored numerous strategic and critical minerals projects within the private and public sectors, including infrastructure and logistics studies, sustaining and growth capital programs, and other key projects across the value chain for multi-commodities. 

Dave is an Honorary Fellow and Chartered Professional of the AusIMM). Dave was also elected to the (AusIMM) Board in October 2015 (completing his Director terms at the end of December 2023) and served as AusIMM President and Board Chair for the period of 2021-22.
