John Vagenas 

Founder and Managing Director, Metallurgical Systems 

John is an experienced metallurgist, engineer, and consultant, as well as founder and managing director of Metallurgical Systems and Elemental Engineering. He is a Fellow of AusIMM, and an Alternate Director of Austmine. He is focused on fast data driven decision making for minerals processing plants, and is an advocate for digital transformation, ESG compliance and the sustainability of the global mining sector. He also speaks regularly at industry events.

John has a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) from the University of New South Wales and has dedicated his career to the metallurgy sector. In 2006, John founded Elemental Engineering, which continues to deliver sophisticated process simulation and process development consulting services.

In 2010, John founded Metallurgical Systems, a world- leading software technology company for the minerals processing sector. John has led the business in attaining considerable industry recognition including the 2021 NSW Premiers export award for Professional Services and Austmine’s Craig Senger Excellence in Export Award (2019).
