Matt is a resource geologist with over 45 years of practical experience in the fields of exploration, resource evaluation, mine planning, project development and mine valuation. Matt has held senior positions in major mining companies (ArcelorMittal, BHP Billiton, Barrick and Goldfields), and has worked for mid-tier companies (Severin Mining), in mining research (CSIR), as an entrepreneur, and as a mining analyst on the JSE. He has worked across all major commodities and in most mining jurisdictions. Matt is currently an Executive Consultant with Snowden Optiro, based in London.

He has been a President of the Geological Society of South Africa, has chaired the SAMREC and SAMVAL code committees and currently chairs the Ethics Committee of the AusIMM. He is a committee member of the AusIMM UK branch.
