Professor Cuthbert Musingwini
Cuthbert is a seasoned mining engineer and former Head of the School of Mining Engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), Johannesburg, South Africa, where he is now a Professor and a Director of the Mine Planning and Optimisation Research Group (MPROG).
He has over 30 years of mining engineering experience in mine production management and planning, consulting and academia. He holds the prestigious rank of Honorary Life Fellow of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM). Cuthbert is a Past President and former Honorary Treasurer of the SAIMM and is registered as a professional engineer (Pr. Eng.) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
He also serves as managing editor of the International Journal of Mining, Reclamation and the Environment and is a member of the editorial boards of the Resources Policy journal, The Journal of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and the MDPI Mining journal. Cuthbert is also a Council member of the International Application of Computers and Operations Research in the Minerals Industry (APCOM) and was Chairperson of the Organising Committee of APCOM 2021.
