Professor Shirong Ge

Prof. Shirong Ge, the Chinese Academy of Engineering academician, and the former president of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing). His research interests focus on the intelligent mines and mining robots. He has led several China key projects and proposed the technical framework of autonomous navigation and cutting of shearer based on geographic information navigation, the parallel intelligent excavation, support and transportation technology model of excavators, the theory and technology of digital twin smart mines, and the technology spectrum of coal mine robots. He has successfully developed China's first coal mine search and rescue robot (2006), automatic cutting drum shearer (2010), long-distance permanent magnet motor intelligent drive belt conveyor (2018) and super heavy-duty permanent magnet motor intelligent drive scraper conveyor (2023).

Keynote presentation title: AI-assisted smart mining in China: achievements and future directions

Synopsis: The development history and status of smart mining technology in China will be described. The concept of robotization mining and application of mining robots including tunneling workface, mining workface, transportation, safety inspection are introduced. The practice achievements of Mine Internet of Things are presented.
