Webinar: Infrared Temperature and Imaging Applications in Top Blown Rotary Converters
Join the Metallurgical Society for their Webinar on Infrared Temperature and Imaging Applications in Top Blown Rotary Converters.
About this event
Accurate temperature measurement and process monitoring are critical for ensuring metallurgical efficiency, refractory integrity, and safe operation in pyrometallurgical furnaces. These furnaces are high-temperature, dynamic environments and incredibly aggressive for sensors and instruments.
This webinar will examine the application of infrared (IR) temperature measurement and thermal imaging technologies in TBRC operations. It will discuss the principles of non-contact infrared sensing, system configurations, and integration with converter control systems. Practical challenges such as dust, flame interference, emissivity variation, and vessel rotation will be addressed, along with mitigation strategies including spectral filtering, emissivity correction, and advanced image processing.
Case studies and operational data will demonstrate how infrared imaging provides real-time insights into bath temperature, slag behaviour, refractory wear, and abnormal heat patterns, enabling improved process control, early fault detection, and reduced downtime.
