This webinar will explore the complexities and opportunities in agreement making with First Nations communities, with a focus on ensuring meaningful implementation that supports community aspirations and long-term outcomes. Drawing on lived experience, the webinar will critically examine how agreements are negotiated, structured, and enacted in practice.

Anthony Galante, CEO of Robe River Kuruma Aboriginal Corporation and Jamie Lowe, CEO of the National Native Tittle Council (NNTC) and Co-Chair of the Mabo Centre will offer grounded insights into community priorities and the realities of implementation.
This session is essential for policymakers, professionals in the mining industry, community leaders, and anyone involved in or supporting agreement making with First Nations peoples.

Anthony Galante
Anthony holds a Master of Arts (International Relations) from Monash University which focused on ethics in international relations, human rights and the French presence in the South Pacific.
Jamie Lowe
Jamie joined NNTC as Chair in 2017 and became CEO in 2019. Jamie helped negotiate the 2020 Closing the Gap Agreement and advises on its implementation as a Joint Council member of the Coalition of the Peaks. He serves as Indigenous Specialist Representative on the Australian Heritage Council and formerly led the Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation, which holds native title in southwestern Victoria.
Internationally, he represents the NNTC at the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. His work focuses on fostering economic independence and preserving cultural identity, while championing a national Treaty and supporting Traditional Owners and communities across Australia.
