In-Person and Livestream: Beyond the single estimate: The case for probabilistic mineral resource modelling
Join the Southern Queensland Branch for their July In-Person and Livestream tech talk: Beyond the single estimate: The case for probabilistic mineral resource modelling.
About this event
Traditional mineral resource models in mining are typically deterministic, anchored to a single fixed estimate that is updated as new information becomes available. However, these models fail to capture the inherent uncertainty of mineral deposits, which remain only partially understood despite extensive drilling. Relying on one estimate oversimplifies the complexity of subsurface variability.
This technical talk will explore why it's time to shift towards probabilistic mineral resource models and explicitly quantify uncertainty. By embracing probabilistic approaches, mining professionals can gain a more meaningful understanding of a mineral resource, enabling better risk management and mine planning, stronger decision-making, and greater operational resilience.
