Join WIMnet Victoria for their Tour of Southern Cross Gold Consolidated – Sunday Creek Project in October.

About this event

The Sunday Creek Project is an emerging high-grade gold and antimony discovery located in Victoria’s historic goldfields. Southern Cross Gold Consolidated is advancing exploration that highlights both the district’s rich mining heritage and its potential to deliver globally significant critical mineral resources.

The tour will include:

  • A visit to Clonbinane’s historic mine workings
  • Learning more about the region’s geology and mineralisation,
  • Lunch and the opportunity to meet the SXGC team
  • Viewing drill core samples at SXGC’s core shed
  • Understanding SXGC’s 3D mineralisation model from one of our geologists

Program
10.30am – Meet at Wandong Station and board the bus to site
10.40am– 12.30pm – On-Site Tour

  • Visit the Historic Golden Dyke Mine
  • Learn about the geology and mineralisation
  • See a working diamond drill rig in action

12.30pm – 1.00pm – Travel on bus to the Kilmore Core Shed
1.00pm – 1.30pm – Lunch & meet the SXGC team

  • Sandwiches and drinks provided
  • Opportunity to chat with the SXGC team

1.30pm – 3.40pm – Core & Geology Session

  • Examine drill core samples
  • Geologist-led walkthrough of the 3D mineralisation model

3.45pm – Depart via bus back to Wandong Station
Note: Train departs 4.14pm, arriving at Southern Cross Station at 5.20pm.

Lisa Gibbons has over 30 years’ experience as a geologist in exploration and resource development, both in Australia and overseas.

Lisa is passionate about creating inclusive and safe environments for her team and the communities in which they operate. Lisa believes in involving local indigenous and community groups in the process of resource development by creating employment opportunities and developing sustainable businesses.

Lisa is involved in livestock farming and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science- Geology with Honours from the University of Technology Sydney and a Masters of Teaching (Science) from the University of New England.

While working as a Principal Geologist for Newmont, Lisa was a finalist for the Telstra Business Women of the Year Award.

While working for Southern Cross Gold, Lisa won the MCA Victoria 2022 Exceptional Woman in Victorian Resources Award for her career achievements, advocacy of women and contribution to social licence and the community.
