Digital Tech Talk Overview

Machine learning has emerged as one of the biggest recent innovation buzzwords, and a key part in many digital transformation strategies. Businesses, however, have faced significant challenges embedding machine learning applications across their operations. This talk explores specific use cases where machine learning has been applied across exploration and mining, why it is difficult to embed or systematise this approach, and what is being done to address this.

Presenter

Holly Bridgewater is an exploration geologist, crowdsourcing lead at Unearthed, and an advocate for industry adoption of open data initiatives. Holly works with teams across the mining industry to identify and articulate problems that suit machine learning, and sources solutions from a globally distributed network of expert data scientists. Currently, Holly is working with the South Australian Government on the largest ever government led open data competition; ExploreSA: The Gawler Challenge.
