My research addresses two of modern society’s most pressing problems - safe and permanent sequestration of CO2 and supply of critical metals for clean energy technology.

Using field-based, modelling and experimental approaches in combination with a wide range of modern chemical, isotopic, physical and crystallographic characterisation techniques, I investigate interactions between CO2 and ultramafic rocks, as well as the formation and alteration of critical metal deposits and the extraction of critical metals from them. I am also applying in-situ analysis to industrial processes such as calcination to reveal reaction sequences and minimise energy consumption.

I publish my work in both basic and applied science and engineering journals of high international standing, such as Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta and Minerals Engineering, and have contributed to more than 40 conferences and workshops, including three invited presentations.

I also value and actively engage in collaborative research with partners in academia, government and industry, including in Europe and Germany, and have so far secured more than 1.25 mio AU$ of external cash funding and 425k AU$ of facilities access for my research.
