Dr. Thamsanqa Ncube 

Superintendent of Process Development,
Talison Lithium

Dr. Thamsanqa Ncube is an accomplished chemical and metallurgical engineer with over 15 years of experience across mineral processing, data analytics, and digital transformation in the mining sector. He currently serves as Superintendent of Process Development at Talison Lithium, the world’s largest hard rock lithium mine, where he leads optimisation initiatives, machine learning deployment, and cross-functional technical projects to enhance plant performance and financial outcomes.

Holding a PhD in Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering from Murdoch University, Dr. Ncube also brings academic depth with multiple postgraduate degrees, including an MBA in Business Analytics (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign), an MSc in Extractive Metallurgy (University of the Witwatersrand), and a Master’s in Chemical Engineering (The Petroleum Institute, UAE). He is fluent in both English and Spanish and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, recognising his academic excellence in business education.

Dr. Ncube has led major innovation projects that have delivered tens of millions in revenue improvements, spearheaded AI and digital solution deployments in mining, and contributed to industry research through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
