Introduction to Life Cycle Assessment Workshop

This interactive workshop will show participants how a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) can shape smarter, more sustainable decisions. The workshops will be split into two parts:

Part 1: Foundations of Life Cycle Assessment

Highlights:

  • Explore what LCA is and how it’s conducted, using the globally recognised ISO 14040/44 framework
  • Understand the four key stages of LCA: goal & scope definition, Life Cycle Inventory (LCI), Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA), and interpretation
  • Learn how LCA is applied in sustainable product design, policy, and critical minerals
  • Get insights into Australian regulations and standards, such as ASRS, EPDs, and GreenPower Certifications
  • Examine real-world case studies from the Australian critical minerals sector

Part 2: Hands-on with XYCLE – Building your own LCA

What to Expect:

  • Get an introduction to XYCLE, an intuitive platform that helps users model and analyse LCAs
  • Follow along with a guided demonstration on how to build your first LCA model
  • Roll up your sleeves for a practical session: you’ll build your own LCA model with live support from facilitators
  • Learn how to interpret results using visualisations and reports, and experiment with scenario analysis to see how choices affect outcomes

Why Attend?
