Celebrating Karina Tedesco from Northern Star
Raised in the Central Wheatbelt by an environmentally conscious father, Karina Tedesco was instilled with a sense of the importance of caring for the land early in life. This eventually drove her to complete a double degree Environment Science and Social Ecology at Murdoch University.
Throughout her 28-year career, she has worked across several industries including agriculture, infrastructure and aviation, but loves the dynamic nature of mining the most. She currently leads Northern Star’s Environment Team across Australia and Alaska and, over the last five years, has helped the business grow from a junior miner to Australia’s largest gold mining company.
Karina has been a constant advocate for women and all minority groups, believing strongly that people should be supported to succeed in their role, no matter who they are; woman, parents, non-gender conforming, neurodiverse or people living with a disability or chronic condition should all be supported to have a meaningful career where they are celebrated, valued and advocated for. She does this while ensuring the team delivers results for the business in good environmental management and by obtaining and complying with environmental approvals.
AusIMM proudly showcases Karina and other remarkable women from across the mining sector as part of our International Women's Day Event Series campaign.
