Panel title | Insights, successes, and improvement opportunities: implementing and assuring the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management

With full disclosure of the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) by ICMM members forthcoming on 5 August 2025 along with substantial implementation, this panel will discuss key insights, learnings, and a view to the future on topics including risk management (credible failure modes and ALARP), safe closure, corporate governance, and ongoing assurance.  

The panel’s contributors will cover a range of perspectives including the Engineer of Record and Independent Tailings Reviewer, corporate governance both from the view of a mining company and external parties, and third-party assurance.
