Mt Coot-tha Day Tour - cancelled
Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances
A day tour to some of the most beautiful sites in Brisbane! Following a short bus ride from the BEC / Brisbane City, we will visit the Brisbane City Council operated Mt Coot-tha quarry which has been in operation for more than a century and supplied much of the asphalt aggregate used for Brisbane’s roads.
The Council has initiated activity to consider potential post-closure development opportunities for the site (although no firm closure date exists). Hosted by the Site Senior Executive (SSE), the tour will visit the site and discuss challenges with operating such a site in an inner-city location, post-closure opportunities and other general Q&A with the SSE.
Following the morning tour, we will have lunch with beautiful views over Brisbane, and presentations on post-closure vision and engagement processes. The afternoon will feature two (2) activities in which you can choose to take a tailored, guided tour of the Botanic Gardens with Gardens Operations Coordinator and Technical Coordinator or a visit to the Planetarium and see an astronomy-based show within the Cosmic Skydome, including a night sky tour of Brisbane hosted by an astronomer.
