Code of Conduct

Remember, you must follow the AusIMM Code of Conduct as a fundamental aspect of your involvement at all AusIMM events. Before entering any AusIMM event, every delegate agrees to the terms and conditions of attendance. To revisit these, access the summit app any time, and read below. 

The terms in this section relate to requirements for attending AusIMM events. You must comply with all requirements specified below. If you fail to comply, we may refuse you entry to an event or remove you from an event. You will not be entitled to any refund if you are refused entry or removed, and you may be liable to pay us compensation for any loss or damage you cause.

General Behaviour
  • Respect and Professionalism: Treat everyone—attendees, speakers, and organisers—with respect and courtesy.
  • Inclusivity: Create an inclusive vibe with zero discrimination, harassment, or bullying.
  • Punctuality: Show up on time for all sessions, activities, and events.
  • Communication: Join in on constructive dialogue and contribute positively.
Respect
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Be aware of cultural differences and diverse perspectives.
  • Personal Space: Respect other people's boundaries and privacy.
  • Conflict Resolution: Handle conflicts or disagreements calmly and respectfully. Get help from organisers if needed.
Merchandise and Dress Code
  • Event Merchandise: AusIMM branded event gear is only to be worn during scheduled activities. We advise you not to wear it in public spaces outside the event.
  • Dress Code: Follow any specified dress code, whether it's business attire or casual wear.
Safety and Compliance
  • Health and Safety: Follow all health and safety guidelines from the event organisers.
  • Emergency Procedures: Know the emergency procedures and evacuation routes.
  • Compliance: Follow all venue rules and regulations, especially related to safety and behaviour.
Event restrictions

Unless otherwise stated, entry to events is restricted to persons over 18 years.

In accordance with Australian venue, police and liquor licensing requirements, the only acceptable forms of identification are:

  • A current photo driver’s license
  • Current Passport
  • An accepted Proof of Age card
On site conduct

For the comfort, safety and enjoyment of all persons attending this event please be advised of the following conditions:

  • The venue will be fully licensed. Alcohol may be served and is subject to Responsible Service of Alcohol and Harm Minimisation Practices. We are prohibited by law from serving liquor to identified intoxicated* persons
  • Persons causing a disturbance or refusing to comply with requests from staff and security will be ejected from the event
  • Anyone displaying behaviours deemed to be anti-social will be refused entry and/or ejected from the event without refund

The Event Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry or reject patrons from the event at its sole discretion.

Alcohol and Substances

Alcohol:

  • Food, alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages may be offered at the event
  • Guests are not permitted to bring alcohol to the event
  • It is the individual's responsibility to drink responsibly and stay in control

Substances:

  • Prescription medications can be used on site and must only be used as prescribed by your physician
  • It is the individual’s responsibility to be aware of the impact of prescribed medication with other substances. Only use prescription medication as directed. 
  • Illegal substances are strictly forbidden

Behaviour:

  • You will be asked to leave if you act inappropriately, cause a nuisance or disturb others at the event.

 

 

*Intoxicated as defined by the LIQUOR ACT 2007 - SECT 5

Meaning of "intoxicated"

(1) For the purposes of this Act, a person is "intoxicated" if--

(a) the person's speech, balance, co-ordination or behaviour is noticeably affected, and

(b) it is reasonable in the circumstances to believe that the affected speech, balance, co-ordination or behaviour is the result of the consumption of liquor.

(2) Accordingly, a reference in this Act to "intoxication" in relation to licensed premises is a reference to the presence of intoxicated persons on the licensed premises.

(3) The Secretary is to issue guidelines to assist in determining whether or not a person is intoxicated for the purposes of this Act. Such guidelines are to be made publicly available in such manner as the Secretary considers appropriate.

(4) The guidelines issued by the Secretary may also indicate circumstances in which a person may be assumed not to be intoxicated for the purposes of this Act.
