Anna Roberts

National Laboratory Excellence Manager, SGS Natural Resources 

Anna Roberts is the National Laboratory Excellence Manager at SGS Natural Resources, where she drives continuous improvement across geochemistry and trade laboratories throughout Australia. Since joining SGS in 2017, Anna has progressed from graduate chemist through to quality and laboratory excellence leadership, building deep expertise in laboratory compliance, ISO and NATA accreditation, and new technology deployment. 

Over the past three years, Anna has played a pivotal role in the rollout of PhotonAssay™ technology, overseeing the installation and initial operation of multiple units across Australia and New Zealand. She has worked closely with Chrysos and SGS clients to conduct comparison studies, standardise best practice, and ensure quality outcomes for diverse ore types. 

With a background spanning quality systems, laboratory innovation and client-focused studies, Anna is known for her practical insights into designing fit-for-purpose testing programs. She is presenting on “Designing fit-for-purpose PhotonAssay™ studies: Insights from Kalgoorlie” at the AusIMM Tech Forum in Perth. 

Beyond her professional career, Anna is an international indoor hockey player, most recently representing New Zealand at the 2025 World Cup in Croatia.
