Simon Gobbett

Principal Consulting Geologist - Enterprise (APAC), Micromine

Simon Gobbett is a world-class geologist with more than two decades of experience across exploration and mining, working throughout Australia, the UK, West Africa, and Tasmania.

In his current role at Micromine, he supports enterprise clients in applying geological and resource modelling software across the full mining value chain, from early-stage discovery through to production.

He has led geology teams in both operational and consulting roles, including with major mining companies such as Rio Tinto, Roy Hill, Barrick, and Mineral Resources. With a strong background in field geology and resource evaluation, Simon focuses on practical solutions that improve efficiency, data quality, and decision-making.

Simon is particularly interested in how emerging technologies, including machine learning and AI tools like Origin Grade Copilot will support geologists in their day-to-day work. His approach is grounded in real-world application, aiming to help teams get the most out of the tools they already use, while staying open to new ways of working.
