New Market and Innovation Manager, GMA Garnet Group

Alex is a mining and engineering leader with more than 25 years of international experience across the resources, automation and materials handling sectors. He has held senior leadership roles with global organisations including Sandvik and FLSmidth, where he was responsible for the delivery of major mining projects and the leadership of product support and innovation functions.

Alex is currently Head of New Markets & Innovation at GMA Garnet Group, a multinational vertically integrated mining company. In this role, he has a global focus on identifying new sustainable markets, customer-focused innovation and monitoring potential industry disruption, supporting long-term growth across the business.

A Chartered Professional and Fellow of AusIMM and the Australian Institute of Management (AIM WA), Alex has a strong commitment to professional standards, ethical leadership and the ongoing development of the resources workforce. He has been an active contributor to AusIMM for many years, including service as a Perth Branch committee member, national mentor and former AusIMM New Leaders Summit Organising Chair.

Alex also serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Get Into Resources, an incorporated not-for-profit organisation promoting careers in the resources sector to secondary school students. He brings to the AusIMM Board broad industry experience, sound governance capability and a strong focus on member value and future industry capability.
