Sara was elected to the board in 2017 and with her understanding of the evolving mining demographic provides a strategic opportunity for building the AusIMM member base, product and service offerings. As a finance specialist Sara is well qualified to contribute to advancing professional development in finance, mineral economics and the connection of finance with technical and operational facets in mining businesses. Sara has a passion for establishing effective strategic direction, implementing governance frameworks to ensure sustainable success and building cultures that are intent on achieving. Sara brings age, gender and professional diversity to the AusIMM board - recognised elements of high performing boards.

A senior finance professional, Sara has over 15 years' mining site experience in Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia across Nickel, Gold, Copper, Uranium and Zinc with Gold Fields, Minara Resources, Xstrata, BHP Billiton, Glencore, and Downer. Sara is presently the Global Head of Finance & Procurement at St Barbara. Sara holds a Bachelor of Business (Double Degree Applied Economics & Marketing), Master of Business (Accounting), commenced a Masters of Science (Mineral and Energy Economics) and is a Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors. Sara has been a member of CPA Australia for over 15 years and an accredited Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) for 10 years. In 2017 Sara was named an Exceptional Women in Mining by the MCA and in 2018, Sara was named in the Top 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining by the UK Women in Mining.
