AusIMM launches Digital Discovery Series

As the peak body leading the way for people in resources, AusIMM has recommitted itself to supporting industry during the COVID-19 pandemic by launching its online Digital Discovery Series.

The series will support industry professionals, including those practising social distancing, by providing important online professional development opportunities on a range of topics through expert webinars, videos, audio content as well as informative articles and publications.

With a focus on health and safety for the launch of the Digital Discovery Series, AusIMM presented a relevant and timely webinar on how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the sector, which attracted more than 700 participants.

The expert industry panel, comprising Bobbie Foot (Head, Health and Safety Environment, BHP Mitsubishi Alliance), Rebecca Tomkinson (CEO, Royal Flying Doctors WA), Nikky LaBranche (Research Manager – OHS, Sustainable Minerals Institute) and facilitated by Mark Noppe (Managing Director, SRK Consulting) discussed changes under COVID-19 including operational modifications and health and safety practices on site, the importance of mental health support, and what professionals and the industry can learn from the pandemic.

This webinar was accompanied by factsheets, articles and publications relating to health and safety in the industry to provide a comprehensive overview on the topic.

AusIMM CEO, Stephen Durkin said that the Digital Discovery Series was part of the contemporary and agile approach AusIMM was taking to the delivery of online professional development easily accessible to people in resources around the world.’
