Geomechanics

Geomechanics
The Geomechanics Society was established in 2024 to represent the professional needs of AusIMM members employed, operating, or interested in geomechanics in the resources industry.
The Geomechanics Society recognises the central role our members play across all aspects of industry. We seek to enhance the member value proposition of AusIMM by creating and delivering high quality technical and skills-enhancing content for members. This includes webinars, communications, and advocacy. We engage with other AusIMM Communities of Interest , the AusIMM Management Team and external parties to deliver these outcomes.
The Society's interest areas cover the following:
-
All aspects of open pit and underground mining geomechanics.
-
Geomechanics relating to the construction, operation, and management of tailings storage facilities.
-
Geomechanics relating to the construction, operation, and management of stockpiles, waste dumps and other site infrastructure impacted by geotechnical considerations.
