June Tech Talk - Australian Remote Operations for Space and Earth (AROSE) - Live Stream

1
PD Hours
Australia is a world-leader in the use of Remote Operations to safely access harsh or complex locations, and overcome the tyranny of distance. The Australian Remote Operations for Space and Earth consortium is leveraging this expertise and extending it further into Space.

About this event

In collaboration with its member organisations, AROSE is bringing industry sectors together for targeted, industry-led projects that deliver high-end, niche solutions and technology for applications from Earth to Space and back again.

In this talk, AROSE CEO Leanne Cunnold and Professor Phil Bland, from AROSE member Curtin University, will discuss why getting involved in Space is important to Australia, using the AROSE collaboration with Curtin University’s Binar Space Program as an example.

The Binar Space Program (named from the Noongar word for fireball or shooting star) is a major initiative of Curtin. This satellite is no bigger than a loaf of bread and has been engineered to integrate all its required systems on a single circuit board, about the size of a sandwich.

This satellite bus is a first of its kind in Australia, making it an efficient and highly cost-effective solution for sending technology into Space.
