April Tech Talk - Decarbonising Mining: Electrification of Mine Haulage - Live Stream

1.5
PD Hours
Join the Southern Queensland Branch on Wednesday 21st April for a panel technical presentation on the electrification of mine haulage and the associated electrical applications and considerations for a mine site.

About this event

Many mining companies are looking at ways to improve their social license to operate and environmental performance through the reduction of carbon emissions.  Electrification of mining operations powered from environmentally friendly sources are seen as a key strategy in delivering this outcome.

While a range of technologies exist to electrify the mine haulage process, the ever changing nature of mine haulage requires a degree of flexibility that makes it difficult to electrify.  A panel consisting of ABB and RPMGlobal will look at the interaction between mine planning and design and the adoption of these technologies.

RPMGlobal : Known for software such as mine and maintenance scheduling, RPM’s advisory and consulting division has been active in a number of mine electrification studies.

ABB : As the world leader in electric vehicle infrastructure, ABB offers the full range of charging solutions for electric cars, electric and hybrid buses as well as electrification solutions for ships and railways. ABB entered the EV-charging market back in 2010, and today has a fast-growing global installed base of 8,000 ABB DC chargers, including high power chargers up to 350 kW, installed across 68 countries, more chargers than any other manufacturer.

Moderator : Adam Foot (Mining Engineer & Chair, SQ AusIMM Branch)
