The Future of Mining: Dealing with Complex Orebodies
This webinar will present global scale analyses of various social, environmental and regulatory risks associated with future mineral production across a range of commodities associated with both more traditional mineral uses and new economy uses, and will provide an overview of some of the potential innovations needed to address future mineral supply challenges.
About this event
As demand for a range mineral commodities continues to increase, source risks associated with mineral supply are becoming more complex. The mining industry has a long track record of technical innovation resulting in massive improvements in efficiency, lowering mining costs, safety, and related areas. However, we have now reached a point where existing paradigms have broken down, and lower costs and improved efficiency are no longer the critical constraints on the future mineral supply that will be required in order to accomplish the clean energy transition and meet the Sustainable Development Goals. The constraints now exist in the form of environmental, social, regulatory and governance standards, and there is a need to develop methodologies to document and analyse these constraints in innovative ways. This webinar will present global scale analyses of various social, environmental and regulatory risks associated with future mineral production across a range of commodities associated with both more traditional mineral uses and new economy uses, and will provide an overview of some of the potential innovations needed to address future mineral supply challenges.
