The AusIMM Adelaide Branch welcomes you to join us online to view the 47th Annual Essington Lewis Memorial Lecture on Thursday 18 November 2021, at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide, with guest speaker Andrew Cole from OZ Minerals presenting on "Shaping a Future with Purpose".

About this event

Andrew will explore the business imperative for all companies (large and small, whether in the resources sector or otherwise) to own and implement their sustainability practices.

Using examples from a variety of sectors, including resources companies generally and more specifically OZ Minerals, he will cover usage of EVs, renewable energy, recycling and repurposing, carbon footprint reduction, minimising negative environmental and social impacts whilst maximising creation of social and economic prosperity for all stakeholders.

With 30 years’ experience in exploration and operations in the resources industry, Andrew has held a variety of exploration geoscientist roles, and has experience in mine development and mine operations across the globe.

Andrew was Chief Operating Officer of Rio Tinto Iron and Titanium in 2013 and was responsible for the leadership of more than 5,000 employees across four operating sites based out of Montreal.

Andrew is committed to creating value and building strong relationships with all stakeholders, and is particularly passionate about leading and developing people, creating safe workplaces and building a culture of innovation.

Appointed as Managing Director and CEO of OZ Minerals at the end of 2014, Andrew has been leading the company’s growth strategy to enable it to be a modern business with a culture that empowers its people to do great things.
