We warmly invite you to the Industry Insight Symposium in Adelaide - an evening of networking and knowledge-sharing.

About this event

Join us for an exclusive event delving into the dynamic world of careers in the resources sector! We're thrilled to present an insightful session led by Kate Hobbs MAusIMM.

Kate Hobbs is a senior professional with over twenty years' experience in the mining sector spanning a wide variety of roles. She is well known for constructively challenging individuals and teams in ways that see them develop themselves and achieve more than they believed was possible. As a recovering perfectionist, Kate knows all too well the deep held desire that most people have to contribute as best they can to a team's success. As a leader, colleague, mentor and change maker, she regularly experiences firsthand how the drive to do well can undermine an individual's and team's performance.

Join us as Kate shares her own journey to where she is today as a respected leader in mining. Along the way, she will provide insight into how sometimes we can get in our own way and what strategies we can use to be the best we can be, as an individual and a member of a successful team.

Following the presentation, participants will have the unique opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, gaining further insights and advice directly from our expert.

Hosted by the New Professionals Network, this event is meticulously curated to provide an inclusive and informative experience for all attendees. Whether you're just starting out or a seasoned pro, this is your chance to gain inspiration and valuable insights from our guest speaker's journey.

Don't miss out on this engaging conversation and exploration of the dynamic landscape of careers in the resources sector. Secure your spot now!

Director & Principal Consultant, Skora Consulting
Kate is an engaging leader known for her ability to bring diverse groups of people together in ways that not only produce transformative results for the businesses she works with, but also surprise those within the team about what’s possible when you’re willing to try different ways of working. People often comment on Kate’s ability to bring fun and personal development into a high-stakes, high-stress environment, particularly when the team is managing a complex challenge with many diverse perspectives.

Kate has a broad range of experience from operational, project and consulting roles across a variety of industries, including over twenty years in the resources sector. She has degrees in Marketing, International Studies and a Master of Mining Engineering. Kate is also a qualified Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt, an Australian Institute of Company Directors graduate, and a Fellow of the SA Leadership Institute’s Governors Leadership Foundation.

Kate was most recently at Core Lithium as Acting GM Growth and Exploration, helping to strengthen their pipeline of growth opportunities as the company progresses through a period of rapid transformation. The time with Core followed a five-year period of working with OZ Minerals across a variety of roles, including as Prominent Hill’s Studies Manager. It was in this role that Kate led the innovative PHOX study to reimagine the mine’s future, with the resulting $600m expansion project securing an additional two decades of mine life via the installation of a hoisting shaft.
Kate is passionate about ensuring different perspectives are heard and, through her ability to influence change within the industry, was recognised in 2020 as one of the 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining (WIM100). This follows being awarded the AusIMM’s Minerals Sector Service Award in 2019 in recognition of the role she has played in driving progress within the AusIMM, particularly in the diversity and inclusion space.
