Cutting-edge technologies driving sustainability in minerals processing

PD Hours
AusIMM and Ausenco are partnering to deliver the second of three thought-provoking webinars on environment, social and governance (ESG) in mining.

About this event

We will unpack how enhanced process technologies are enabling and delivering step-change improvements in sustainability outcomes.

Facilitated by Matt Pyle and joined by Grant Ballantyne, Steve Meiring and Ben Narbutas – Ausenco’s experts in comminution, preconcentration, coarse particle flotation and tailings technologies – we will shed light on the following topics:

  • Next generation concentrator designs
  • Developments in tailings and water management
  • Tailings re-processing to rehabilitate

Other webinars in this series

Matt Pyle

Matt Pyle

Director Technical Solutions, Ausenco
Matt has 15 years’ experience in the design, operation and optimisation of minerals, base metals and precious metal processing plants. He is especially interested in novel technologies and flowsheets, bulk and particle sorting, coarse particle flotation, high-capacity tailings filtration and ‘mine of the future’ approaches to process control, automation and continuous improvement.

Grant Ballantyne

Director Technical Solutions, Ausenco
Grant has over 10 years’ mineral processing engineering experience in design, optimisation, operation, research, and development. He is a passionate mineral processing engineer that enjoys implementing process improvements by applying fundamental understanding to industrial problems.

He was awarded the Minerals Engineering International Young Person of the Year at the MEI Comminution ’18 Conference in Cape Town in 2017 and the 2020 Coalition for Energy Efficiency Comminution (CEEC) Medal for Technical Research.

Steve Meiring

Lead Process Engineer, Ausenco
Steve is an industry-recognised process engineer with more than 30 years’ experience in dewatering and process equipment. As a highly experienced metallurgist, Steve’s expertise spans from paste thickening, centrifuges, filters, cyclones, scrubbers and characterisation.

Ben Narbutas

Senior Process Engineer, Ausenco
Ben’s expertise lies in debottlecking studies, coal quality and resource evaluations, greenfield and brownfields coal processing plant (CPP) designs, analysis of new spirals technology, Australian Coal Industry’s Research Program projects, CPP design due diligence. At Ausenco, he’s currently co-ordinating a working group looking at better ways forward for coal tailings.
