Join the AusIMM Far North Queensland Branch for an engaging evening of discussion and networking at the Progress on Critical Minerals in FNQ – Panel Discussion & Annual Meeting.

The evening will feature a panel of industry professionals working across critical mineral projects in the region. Panel speakers include Kevin MacNeill MAusIMM, Michelle Boevink, and Mark Smith MAusIMM. Together, they will share their perspectives on the evolving landscape of critical minerals in FNQ.

The FNQ Branch Annual Meeting will follow the panel, offering members an opportunity to hear updates on branch activities and get involved in shaping the committee for the coming year.

We look forward to welcoming you to an evening focused on the future of critical minerals in Far North Queensland.

Nominations for the 2025/26 branch committee are now open.

Nominations are to be received by Friday 29th August, prior to commencement of the Annual Meeting.

Michelle Boevink

General Manager, Silica Resources Australia
Michelle has worked across a diverse range of industries, with a strong background in administration systems and business planning. Over the course of her career, she has held key roles in sectors including agriculture, logistics, manufacturing, and quarry development.
Michelle was the driving force that established Mourilyan Silica Resources through an approved Mining Lease, before exiting as owners. Michelle continues to work in the development of the project as General Manager for Silica Resources Australia.
Michelle is passionate about the North and focused on development opportunities in North Queensland as well as holding interests in other projects and businesses.

Mark Smith

Senior Specialist of Resources and Mine Planning, Aurukun Bauxite - A Glencore managed company
Mark has 17 years experience as a professional in the resources industry, 12 of those focused on the development of bauxite projects. Mark is currently Glencore’s Senior Specialist of Resources and Mine Planning for the Aurukun Bauxite Project, responsible for the delivery of the Strategic Mine Plan and Life of Mine Production Plan. His role includes the overall governance, management and reporting of JORC Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves. Mark is also involved in the evaluation and assessment of other prospective Australian and international mines and projects for Glencore’s Aluminium division.
