Ken has been involved with the rock mechanics of underground coal mining for over 45 years. He worked for a year with CSIRO Division of Geomechanics in Brisbane in 1988/89 before joining Strata Control Technology, a research and consulting group based in Wollongong, Australia in 1990. His principal interests are in situ stress measurement and monitoring, subsidence engineering, overburden caving behaviour, pillar design, groundwater interactions around longwall panels, and hydraulic fracturing as a means to control caving behaviour.
