March tech talk: Inspiring STEM education and career pathways for Victorian students
Join the Melbourne Branch for their March tech talk: Inspiring STEM education and career pathways for Victorian students.
About this event
Earth Ed is a specialist STEM centre bringing STEM education to life for students and teachers.
We aim to inspire and engage the next generation of students to pursue science and mathematics related careers.
We understand the importance of our role in showcasing the diversity of careers and pathways possible within STEM, including those within the mining industry. As part of this, we connect with a number of industry related partners to ensure what we teach is authentic and has real-world applications for students.
The value of primary and secondary education to inspire and engage students in pursuing STEM pathways and careers.
We will be sharing the importance of how primary and secondary education experiences in a setting such as Earth Ed provides opportunities for inspiration and wonder … a potential moment in time to excite and entice students to be curious and connect to the possible career pathways beyond this
experience.
Our learning programs are designed to be student centred, hands-on and inquiry based. They include a focus on essential capabilities (collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, problems solving) and connect to the real-world experiences of the students.
We will showcase our year 8 Rocks, Minerals and Exploration program to generate a conversation about the importance of engaging younger students in career path conversations. We hope to engage with the AusIMM community and expertise to support our visiting students who are the potential future of the mining industry.
