About this event

Join us for an insightful webinar on Copper Electrowinning and Electrorefining, two critical processes in modern copper production. This session will explore the fundamentals, advancements, and challenges in these electrochemical processes that are essential for producing high-purity copper for industrial applications.

Key topics include:

  • Principles of Electrowinning and Electrorefining: Understanding the fundamental chemical and electrochemical reactions, equipment, and key operating parameters.
  • Technological Developments: Exploring innovations in equipment, additives, and process monitoring to improve yield and quality.
  • Sustainability in Copper Refining: Discussing future challenges, by-product recovery, and the environmental impact of these processes.
  • Common Issues and Solutions: Practical strategies to mitigate poor copper cathode quality and low current efficiency.

This webinar is designed for professionals in the mining, metallurgy, and manufacturing sectors, as well as researchers and engineers seeking to deepen their expertise in copper processing. Whether you're looking to optimise operations or explore the future of sustainable copper production, this session will provide valuable insights and practical solutions.

Speaker/s

Mr Andrew Spencer

Metallurgist, Glencore Technology
Andrew is a metallurgist at Glencore Technology, specialising in copper electrorefining and electrowinning as part of the ISAKiDD team, based at Copper Refineries Limited in Townsville—the birthplace of the ISAKiDD process.
