April tech talk: Practical applications of load and haul simulation
Join the Perth Branch for their April tech talk: Practical Applications of Load and Haul Simulation
About this event
There was a time when chasing small icons around a screen was the domain of those playing Pacman.
These days, the rise of simulation and digital twins is in full swing. Increased data collection, analysis and interpretation means that many potential scenarios can be tested without equipment leaving the go-line. This talk will look at we make sense of simulation and what are the potential problems that can be solved using the technique.
Chris Nguyen is a mining engineer that has dealt with these issues in previous projects. He will provide a brief overview of simulation, particularly the Orepath Mine Simulator, how stochastic inputs are involved and how seeds work with practical examples. He will be presentaing a Case Study to demonstrate the impacts of intermittent automatic haul system stoppages, the effects on congestion and system productivity.
Load & haul simulation may be a bespoke exercise but its core premise can be applied to other parts of the supply chain, simulating material movement for building/reclaiming ROM/Railyard stockpiles, blending crusher feed or battery charging requirements etc. Chris’ experience will give insight into making sense of simulation and how it can improve your approach to planning.
Join the Perth Branch for a stimulating evening of simulation. Who knows, you might even improve your High Score. There will be time to take comments and questions from the floor to make this an interactive event.
